Who We Are ?

MOC Cancer Care Foundation

MOC Cancer Care Foundation (MOCF), established in 2018, is a Section 8 non-profit organization and the social impact arm of MOC Cancer Care & Research Centre.

We believe that a person's chance of survival should not depend on where they live, what they earn, or whether they know where to seek help. Yet, too many individuals continue to be diagnosed with cancer at advanced stages because awareness, screening, and timely access to care remain out of reach.

Through community-based awareness, early detection initiatives, patient navigation, and support programs, we work to bridge the gap between screening and timely care. Our goal is not only to help individuals detect cancer early but also to ensure they receive the guidance, support, and access to treatment they need throughout their cancer care journey.

Guided by our trustees Dr. Ashish Joshi, Dr. Kshitij Joshi Dr. Preetam Kalaskar, and Dr. Vashista Maniar. MOCF is committed to bringing cancer care closer to communities and improving cancer outcomes through timely action, compassionate support, and equitable access to care.

About MCCF

What We Believe

A cancer diagnosis should not be a sentence written by geography, income, or information gaps. And yet, in India, most people encounter cancer too late — without the knowledge, the guidance, or the resources to move through a fragmented system. By the time a patient reaches a treating institution, they have often travelled alone through months of fear, delay, and confusion.

Our conviction is simple: the journey before and around treatment matters as much as the treatment itself. MOCF exists so that fewer people face cancer late, and no one faces it unaccompanied.

To reduce the burden of cancer on underserved communities by combining population-level awareness, high-quality early detection, and the collaborative infrastructure — navigation, financial assistance, and institutional linkages — that allows every positive screen to reach a timely diagnosis, and every diagnosed patient a fair chance of completing treatment.

Where we work

We operate across multiple locations in India, providing accessible and high-quality cancer care through our network of centers to ensure patients receive timely and effective treatment closer to home.

Our Impact

Our programmes are measured by outcomes, not activity counts. The numbers below represent our success in delivery of care.

Independent evaluation by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP on impact of programmatic activities in FY 2022-23 reveals a significant impact of our presence in shifting patients from late-stage to mid-stage cancer care where outcomes are better and costs are lower.

Our Values — Empathetic, Ethical, Empowered

MOCF shares its core values with MOC Cancer Centre. Three words govern every interaction, every decision, and every programme.

Empathetic

We begin every interaction by acknowledging that a conversation about cancer is rarely only about cancer. It is a conversation about fear, about family, about money, about mortality. Our staff, navigators, and counsellors are trained to meet people where they are — in their language, on their terms, and at their pace. A beneficiary is never a throughput number.

Ethical

We report honestly. We flag what we do today and what we are building next. We do not overstate reach, claim outcomes we cannot verify, or let our numbers tell a better story than our work deserves. Grant funds are ring-fenced; our costs and overheads are open to our Board and to our funders. We hold ourselves to the standard we would expect from the institutions we serve.

Empowered

We equip our navigators and field staff with the authority to act — to make a referral, to escalate a case, to call a family at ten o’clock at night. And we treat the people we serve not as passive beneficiaries, but as individuals making informed decisions about their own health and their own families’ futures. Empowerment, for us, is an operating model as much as a value.

Our Three Programme Pillars

Each of which is a separate and distinct focus, they are the segments of a patient's journey — and the core elements of our operations.

Awareness

Awareness

Community, public, and workplace engagement that turns cancer literacy into action — and converts awareness into screening.

Prevention

Prevention

Community screening camps for breast, cervical, and oral cancers; HPV vaccination; and the follow-up pipeline that turns detection into a confirmed diagnosis.

Collaboration

Collaboration

Patient navigation, financial assistance, and partnerships with hospitals, laboratories, government bodies, and grassroots organisations.

Our Strategic Framework

MCCF is guided by a five-year strategy that focuses on a growth model built on three pillars, with defined goals for geographic expansion, treatment reach, and program depth. The overarching values of this strategy are being ethical, empathetic, and empowered and will be reflected in our work.

Where We Work

Our primary geographic focus covers Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Orissa, with a secondary presence in several other states. We target regions where the burden of cancer is high and the availability of specialized care is limited. Our work aims to bridge the gap in healthcare access through mobile clinics and community-based programs.

Governance

MCCF is governed by a Board of Trustees with background in medicine, oncology, public health, finance, and social impact. The Foundation is compliant with Section 135 and all relevant statutory regulations, audited annually, and operates a standing Patient Assistance Committee (PAC) which reviews and approves each individual patient support case. Medical Social Workers prepare case files which then seek approval from the Committee.

Our organizational structure includes several key departments: Programmes, Impact, Finance & Operations, Human Resources, Administration, and Communication and Fundraising.
