On the morning of 13 June 2026, the corridors of Grant Medical College & Sir JJ Group Of Hospitals, Mumbai. in Mumbai began to fill with people who had come for a reason many had never spoken about openly before. They were there for a Free HPV Vaccination Drive, organised by MOC Cancer Care Foundation with support from the Rotary Club of Juhu Beach. By the end of the day, 292 people had taken an important step towards protecting their long-term health.
Among those waiting was a mother who had brought her two daughters with her. She wasn't there simply to protect herself. She wanted her daughters to grow up in a world where prevention felt normal, even routine, something you do for yourself and for the people you love, without hesitation.
A little further down the queue stood a young man, quietly reconsidering what he thought he knew. He had always assumed the HPV vaccine was meant primarily for women. But as he learned more that morning, he realized it was a decision that mattered for him too. When his turn came, he rolled up his sleeve without a second thought.
Story by story. Decision by decision. The day unfolded into something much bigger than a vaccination drive.
Why This Moment Mattered
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common viral infections in the world and is responsible for the vast majority of cervical cancer cases. It is also linked to several other cancers that affect both women and men. The encouraging news is that many HPV-related diseases are preventable. Vaccination offers people the opportunity to protect themselves long before disease has a chance to develop.
Every person who chose to get vaccinated that day was choosing a future where prevention came first.
The People Who Made It Possible
Behind every vaccination was a team working quietly and tirelessly. The doctors, residents, nurses, and healthcare professionals at Grant Medical College & Sir JJ Group Of Hospitals, Mumbai. spent the day answering questions, addressing concerns, and guiding people through informed decisions.
For many beneficiaries receiving the HPV vaccine for the first time, it wasn't just the vaccine that made a difference. It was the conversations. Patient. Unhurried. Human. Those moments of reassurance transformed uncertainty into confidence.
It's easy to overlook these interactions, but they were at the heart of the day's success.
What the Day Left Behind
By evening, the numbers told one part of the story: 292 people were vaccinated, including more than 15 men, and several families chose prevention together.
But the real impact extended far beyond those figures. It was reflected in greater awareness, informed choices, improved access to preventive healthcare, and a community taking another step towards a future with fewer preventable cancers.
The day also demonstrated what becomes possible when a public hospital, a healthcare foundation, a community organization, and hundreds of individuals come together with a shared purpose.
The Next Chapter
At MOC Cancer Care Foundation, we believe every cancer prevented is a story rewritten before it ever begins. Prevention starts with awareness, access, and the confidence to make informed choices.
The HPV Vaccination Drive on 13 June 2026 was one chapter in that ongoing journey. With the continued support of healthcare institutions, community organizations, volunteers, and individuals who choose prevention, many more chapters are yet to be written.
Each person who rolled up their sleeve that day became part of a larger story, one where prevention, not diagnosis, becomes the headline.
Early Detection Saves Lives.❤️
